On October 18, 2012, CRC hosted their 3rd Annual Golf Invitational and Charity Auction at Turf Valley Country Club in Ellicott City, Maryland.

On behalf of Compass Rose Charities, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of the support shown by vendors, sponsors, golfers, attendees, individual donors, & more. Because of your generosity, we raised over $113,000 for our Charity of Choice: Companions for Heroes (C4H). Since its inception in 2009, C4H has been dedicated to supporting our nation’s heroes, while simultaneously finding loving homes for shelter pets.

This year’s Charity of Choice, COMPANIONS FOR HEROES was issued a check for: $84,975.00.

Companions For Heroes

“C4H is a great program bringing together our magnificent veterans, with pets who are agendaless and completely devoted to the veteran.”
James R. Clapper, Jr., Director of National Intelligence (DNI)

Companions For Heroes (C4H), formerly known as Pets2Vets (P2V), has been offering aid to our nation’s brave since 2009. Founder David Sharpe, who served in the U.S. Air Force Security Forces, established the program after returning home from deployment overseas and being diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

For years, Sharpe was one of the 10-12 million veterans suffering from various psychological conditions, like PTSD. Fortunately for Sharpe, he was introduced to a Pitbull puppy named Cheyenne who was able to help him begin to heal from the traumatic and life-threatening situation that he had experienced during his last deployment overseas. To this day, Sharpe and his family credit Cheyenne with helping reduce the number of outbursts and improving Sharpe’s overall attitude towards life.

In October 2009, Sharpe set out on a mission to share his personal struggles and success stories with his brothers and sisters in-arms, firefighters, police officers, first responders and patients suffering with PTSD or similar symptoms. It is Sharpe’s hope that C4H will aid them in their recovery while at the same time saving our nation’s sheltered and rescued animals.

In 2012, Compass Rose Charities proudly donated $3,250 to help support the training of shelter animals and provide the necessary equipment to assist American Heroes suffering from PTSD.
